Serge Gainsbourg: biography, news, photos and videos
Serge Gainsbourg, real name Lucien Ginsburg, who died in Paris on March 2, 1991 at the age of 62, was a multifaceted French artist. A painter, singer-songwriter, pianist, writer, actor and director, Serge Gainsbourg remains an emblematic figure of French song and an extraordinary public figure. A provocateur, the Frenchman caused controversy during his television appearances, such as in 1984 when he burned a 500 franc note live in front of the cameras, or in 1986 when he did not hesitate to declare to the American singer Whitney Houston present on the set “I want to fuck her”. If music was the main reason for his fame in France, Serge Gainsbourg did not abandon his desire to become an actor. His easily identifiable face can thus be seen both in cinema and on television, such as in the TV films “Valmy” (1967), “Melody” (1971) and “From Tarzan with Love” (1974).
