Yasser Al-Atta: A new alliance is being formed for the benefit of Sudan and the army has obtained qualitative weapons | News
Khartoum- Yasser Al-Atta, a member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, announced that the coming period will witness decisive victories for the army on all fronts of combat after they recently obtained large military supplies, with expectations of receiving other qualitative weapons “that will be the beginning of the end of the Rapid Support Forces.”
Al-Atta said – in clips of an interview with Sudanese state television that will be broadcast in full tomorrow – that if Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Sovereignty Council and commander of the army, or his deputy in the army Shams al-Din Kabashi, or his other assistants are killed, “then the armed forces have a million leaders, all of them Burhan, Kabashi and Yasser al-Atta,” in response to the assassination attempt that targeted Burhan the day before yesterday, Wednesday.
Al-Atta revealed that a strategic alliance is being formed in favor of Sudan from major countries, and from countries inside and outside the region, after regional powers worked to besiege and isolate Sudan, according to his expression.
Regarding the army’s connection to the Islamists, Al-Atta explained that all the Islamist officers who were retired by Al-Burhan in previous periods were absorbed by the Rapid Support Forces, adding that 95% of the Rapid Support Forces’ leaders and advisors who currently speak on behalf of its leader, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeti), were from the former ruling National Congress Party, led by the ousted president, Omar al-Bashir, and some of them held leadership positions in their states.
Field developments
On the ground, the Sudanese army said it had retaken positions that were under the control of the Rapid Support Forces in the Al-Muhandisin and Al-Fatehab neighborhoods, located in the southern part of Omdurman.
The official page of the armed forces said that the army's special forces carried out a “qualitative operation” on Thursday, and “killed dozens and received weapons and ammunition from the Rapid Support Militia.” Armed forces platforms broadcast video clips showing the army's control over the Rapid Support sniper positions in the far west of the Mohandessin neighborhood.
Pro-army websites reported that the clashes in the Al-Muhandisin area led to the killing of Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Nil, commander of the Rapid Support Forces in the area, in addition to field commanders and other militants.
On the other hand, the Resistance Committees of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazeera State, accused the Rapid Support Forces of killing 12 people and wounding others after storming the village of Al-Adnab, affiliated with the Al-Managil locality, west of the state, with the aim of looting and plundering, which prompted the residents to confront them with knives.
The Resistance Committees in Wad Madani said that the Rapid Support Forces attacked the village of Wad Al-Asha, affiliated with the South Al-Jazeera locality, on Wednesday, resulting in 11 deaths and 26 injuries, some of whom were in critical condition. They were transferred to Al-Managil Hospital, west of the state, which is controlled by the army.
The Sudanese Human Rights Observatory documented 154 attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces in Al-Jazeera State between April 2023 and March 2024, resulting in the killing of 248 people and the injury of 347 others.
He reported that the Rapid Support Forces had committed rapes, in addition to the systematic looting of public and private property, targeting civilians and civilian objects, and the forced displacement of civilians.
The report spoke about the violations committed by the armed forces, which included indiscriminate shelling of populated areas, which led to many civilian casualties, in addition to planting mines in some rural areas of the island, which put civilians’ lives at risk and complicated humanitarian relief efforts, and carrying out a campaign of arrests that included politicians and activists.
Arrest of politicians
On the other hand, the National Umma Party said in a statement today, Friday, that the military intelligence arrested two of its most prominent leaders, explaining that the military intelligence of the 18th Division in the White Nile State arrested Jadin Ali Al-Ubaid, a member of the party's political bureau and former oil minister, from his home in the “Al-Jazeera Aba” area on Thursday evening without giving any reasons.
The party said that the military intelligence in Blue Nile State in the southeast of the country arrested Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim Qarbin and others since June 26.
The Umma Party strongly condemned these arrests and the targeting of party leaders, cadres and public activists, and held the military intelligence in the White Nile State responsible for the safety of the detainees and demanded their immediate release.
