Turkish actor Kivanc Tatlitug, known in the Arab world for his role as “Muhannad”, is expected to present a new series in which he will play the role of Necdet Elmas, one of the most famous gangsters in the country.

Tatlitug, who is famous for his roles in the series “Nour” and “Forbidden Love,” will not only act in the series, whose name has not yet been chosen, but will also participate in the production through the “Campion” company he owns, along with the “Ay Yapim” company, with which he presented his latest work in the TV series “Family” (Aile).

The series is written by Levent Cantik, inspired by the autobiography of Necdet Elmas' son, entitled “My Father Was a Gangster, But I Was a Child,” as the work takes place in a framework of crime and adventure in the 1960s in Turkey.

The series is scheduled to be shown on a digital platform before being shown on TV.

The series is expected to touch on the human aspects of the life of Elmas, who was known in the 1960s as the number one gangster in Turkey, due to his sharp intelligence and charisma. Elmas gained his fame from robbing banks in Istanbul, and was also known for his prominent connections in the world of crime.

Necdet Elmas, who Tatlitug will play, was born in 1935 to a poor and modest family living in Konya, but he decided to run away from home at the age of 12. He decided to earn money at a young age and left his studies at the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University in his second year.

He then worked as a government employee for a while, and after losing his 7-year-old child due to his suffering from cancer, he turned to crime. He stole a Chevrolet car and was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He escaped from prison after a while, was arrested again, and was sent to the hospital due to a heart attack, but he was able to deceive the police and escape again.

In 1961, he robbed a bank in the Fatih district of Istanbul, and his character attracted the attention of the press during his trial.

Elmas was writing to newspapers under the name “Istanbul Gang,” criticizing the police who were unable to arrest him. He also sent his plans to the newspapers before they were implemented, and he succeeded in stealing 165,850 liras with his pistol from a bank branch only 30 meters away from the police station.

The gangster continued to commit car thefts and bank robberies before being arrested and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was released before completing his sentence for good conduct and returned to his hometown of Konya, then moved to Antalya, where he died in 2017.

It is noteworthy that Tatlitug's latest work is the series “The Family”, which he presented in 2023, and its events revolve around family and family relationships through the character of the hero Aslan Sukkan, who comes from a famous family.

In the same year, he also participated in the movie “Last Call for Istanbul”, through which he returned to co-starring with Turkish actress Beren Saat, after they achieved overwhelming popularity through the series “Forbidden Love”.
