Why Guardiola rejected Ronaldo joining Manchester City? | Sports
An excerpt from a recently published book reveals the real reason behind Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola’s refusal to sign Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker for Saudi club Al-Nassr.
An exclusive extract from a new book titled 'Pep's Revolution', which looks at Guardiola's time at City, claims Ronaldo offered himself to the club before moving to the Saudi league, but the Spanish coach chose not to sign him.
In 2021 Pep Guardiola admitted that Ronaldo was one of his options to join Manchester City before he left Italy.
But in the coach's recent book, it was revealed that Messi begged him to allow him to join the English club, but Pep warned him that it was not a suitable place for him. https://t.co/fJvmP7USzF pic.twitter.com/S1BT0S06CZ

“He offered himself to City last summer but Pep wasn’t interested,” the excerpt reads. “Guardiola certainly respects his incredible finishing ability and his superb physical condition, but how can this type of player fit into the precision machine the Catalan has painstakingly and strategically built at City?”
“Thank you Cristiano. Not even after City failed to sign Harry Kane and buy a centre-forward,” Guardiola replied.
