Venezuela: Opposition continues to mobilize despite repression that left a dozen dead

The opposition leader called for a large peaceful rally on Tuesday, July 30, and several thousand Venezuelans responded to the call in Caracas. This was to proclaim the man they consider to be the winner of the presidential election, Edmundo Gonzalez, and to challenge the army and Nicolas Maduro's government. Everything initially went calmly, but after the rally, clashes broke out with the police. The tensions and violence led to the deaths of a dozen people and mass arrests.
