The star of this hit HBO series had to be protected because of the behavior of fans who hate her character – News Séries
In a recent interview, the actress who plays Dina in “The Last of Us” explained why one of her co-stars had to receive extra protection during the filming of season 2.
This is information that we would have liked not to know and which raises questions about the behavior of certain fans.
Actress Isabela Merced, currently starring in Alien: Romulus, revealed to the microphone of this podcast the stressful situation experienced by his gaming partner Kaitlyn Dever on the set of season 2 of The Last of Us. The latter was in fact chosen to play Abby, the main antagonist of the HBO series which sees humans trying to survive in a world infested with zombies.
“There are so many weird people in this world. Some genuinely hate Abby, someone who doesn’t exist. Kaitlyn had to have extra protection on set.”
It is not known at this time if these are just threats received by the production or by the actress herself or if it has gone even further. But for several months now, the 27-year-old American has been receiving a wave of hatred against her…
A choice that causes debate
In The Last of Us video games, which the series is adapted from, Abby is a former Firefly (a group that is trying to synthesize an antidote) now a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF). When a member of her family is killed, she embarks on a merciless vendetta to catch the person who took his life.

In the second opus, Abby and Ellie confront each other several times. The player embodies each of the heroines in turn, as if to understand the hatred that drives them and that will lead them to their downfall. If Abby is an antagonist of choice – and for a particular reason that we will keep quiet here so as not to spoil – the game The Last of Us 2 succeeds in creating an ambivalence where the wrongs are shared. So much so that it is difficult to have a visceral hatred for this character.
Finally the first images of season 2 with Pedro Pascal!
But where a core of fans was disappointed by the choice of the actress, it is because on paper, Kaitlyn Dever does not have at all the same build as Abby, who is particularly muscular. But once again, we will have to wait to see the result before expressing ourselves on the subject. And if there is one who is already a fan of her work, it is her partner in the game who will play Dina in season 2:
“Give him an Emmy straight away. I can't wait for viewers to see the work of Bella Ramsey and Kaitlyn on this series,” Merced said in that same interview.
Expected, we hope, in 2025, season 2 of The Last of Us will contain 7 episodes and should cover part of the events of the second game, where the previous one covered the first part. Enough to inaugurate something good for a possible season 3.
The Last of Us, to catch up on Max.
