Stock Exchange Started the Day in Minus – Sözcü
At the opening of Borsa Istanbul today, BIST 100 index decreased by 7.51 points and 0.07 percent compared to the previous close, falling to 10,016.80 points.
The banking index gained 0.09 percent, while the holding index lost 0.20 percent. Among the sector indexes, the one that gained the most was sports with 0.66 percent, and the one that fell the most was communications with 0.50 percent.
Moving in an upward trend yesterday, the BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul closed the day at 10,024.31 points, gaining 1.45 percent compared to the previous close.
GLOBAL MARKETS
While global markets are mixed due to ongoing concerns about the US economy, the Inflation Report presentation to be made by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Governor Fatih Karahan has become the focus of investors in the country.
Analysts recalled that the data in the employment report announced last week in the US increased recession concerns, and noted that the weekly unemployment benefit applications data to be announced in the country today could provide more evidence about the labor market in the country and could be decisive on the direction of the markets.
Analysts stated that the 3rd Inflation Report of the year to be announced by the CBRT in Turkey today, and the weekly unemployment benefit applications in the US as well as wholesale goods stocks will be monitored abroad, and stated that from a technical perspective, 9,800 and 9,750 points are support and 10,100 and 10,200 points are resistance in the BIST 100 index.
At the 2nd Inflation Report meeting of the year, the CBRT updated the 2024 year-end inflation forecast by 2 points to 38 percent, while maintaining the 2025 and 2026 forecasts at 14 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
