Satellite images show US aircraft carrier 40 nautical miles from Iran | News
Satellite images taken on Monday showed the US aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt sailing in the Gulf waters near the southern coast of Iran.
The American aircraft carrier appeared about 40 nautical miles from the coast of the Iranian city of Bushehr, and about 60 nautical miles from the coast of Bahrain.
The US Central Command announced in a statement that the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier strike group arrived in the US Fifth Fleet area of operations on July 12, in order to “deter aggression, enhance regional stability, and protect the free flow of trade in the region.”
This comes amid fears among the United States – the main supporter of Israel in its war on Gaza – of the outbreak of a broad regional conflict and a comprehensive war between Israel and Lebanon, especially following the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, and the Israeli army’s announcement of the assassination of what it described as the chief of staff of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Fouad Shukr.
