Netflix finally renews this science fiction series, a real surprise hit of the summer! – News Series
The fight will continue in season 2 of “Supracell.” Netflix has just renewed the British science fiction series that was a hit during the summer.
It's the news we've been waiting for for a while and it's finally here. British sci-fi series Supracell has been renewed for a second season by Netflix. The announcement was made on Netflix's social media channels yesterday. The renewal comes after the six-episode first season was released on the broadcaster last June, to great acclaim.
According to the official description, SupraCell follows a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They don't have much in common, except that they're all black and from South London. It falls to one man, Michael Lasaki (Tosin Cole), to bring them together to save the woman he loves.
What to expect from season 2?
The epic story of these five extraordinary south Londoners ended its first season with a heartbreaking flourish. When I come back, they're all gonna fucking pay.,” Michael swears to his superpowered allies Andre (Eric Kofi Abrefa), Rodney (Calvin Demba), Sabrina (Nadine Mills), and Tazer (Josh Tedeku). The “they” Michael refers to is a shadowy organization that hunts down, manipulates, and in some cases, kills those with these superpowers.
For the creator of the series, Rapman, the rest of the story is not a mystery.I always had season 3 in mind. I know how season 2 ends.” he told Tudum before the series launch, adding: “I have plans for this story. I've had it in mind for years, so I'm ready to go.”

An unexpected success
Throughout Season 1 – which reached No. 1 on the global Netflix series chart and remained in the top 10 for six weeks – Michael isn't just a proven good guy.
He is also the one who brings together Sabrina, Tazer, Rodney and Andre, as his future self asked him to do. If Rapman calls Michael a “warm and friendly character“, he acknowledges that the heartbreaking loss of this hero transcending time and space could change his personality: “You can have the nicest person in the world. You push that person too far, and they have extraordinary power? You could create something very dangerous.”
Each of the five heroes has their own problems, while trying to use a superpower, but Rapman says they are just getting started.Supracell season 1 is my Batman Begins. It's a prequel to what they're going to be. Season 2 is where we really see what they're going to be. The future that you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn't exist anymore. They've changed everything. It's going to be interesting when we get into the writers' room.”
Now we just have to wait a few months to see what will become of these heroes.
