Missing The Crown? You'll love this series about one of its most controversial members – News Séries

The series “A Very Royal Scandal” will return to the legal case involving Prince Andrew, played on this occasion by Michael Sheen.

Implicated in a legal scandal linked to the Epstein affair, Prince Andrew – brother of King Charles III – has been going downhill for several years. Stripped of his honorary and military titles, the latter is still the subject of an investigation following accusations of sexual assault and touching of minors.

This is also why the Prince has not appeared in the last seasons of The Crown, despite his status as Queen Elizabeth II's “favorite child.” But that doesn't matter, since the Netflix film Scoop was nevertheless dedicated to him (unrelated to the historical series) to retrace his famous interview with journalist Emily Maitlis.

This feature film starring Rufus Sewell and Gillian Anderson goes behind the scenes of this televised interview, during which the prince's pathetic defense sparked anger and indignation among the British. This film also brought the scandal to the attention of the public who had not yet heard about it.

With this legal case continuing to generate headlines, it's no surprise to see a new series chronicling the investigation into Prince Andrew. Titled A Very Royal Scandal, this Prime Video production is the latest installment in the anthology series devoted to real-life scandals, including the series A Very English Scandal and A Very British Scandal.

A very committed actor in the casting of the series!

This new series will see Michael Sheen lend his features to Prince Andrew. Already appeared as Tony Blair in the biopic The Queen, the Welsh actor is also known for his very critical political positions against the British monarchy. In 2017, the latter had also decided to return the Order of the British Empire that had been awarded to him by the Queen.

First photos from the project directed by Julian Jarrold (A Royal Night Out) have been released by Prime Video, offering a first look at Michael Sheen. The rest of the cast includes Ruth Wilson (The Affair) as Emily Maitlis, and Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young, Elizabeth II's private secretary.

The series A Very Royal Scandal will be available from September 19 exclusively on Prime Video.
