Israel admitted on Monday that one of its soldiers was killed in shelling from Lebanon, while the Lebanese Ministry of Health said that two people were killed in an Israeli raid on the town of Houla, south of Lebanon. Hezbollah mourned them, announcing the shelling of Israeli sites and the killing and wounding of Israeli soldiers.

The party said that it attacked the Yara barracks and the Saint Jean base in the Western Galilee with swarms of suicide drones, confirming that a number of Israeli officers and soldiers were killed and wounded.

The party confirmed that its fighters bombed the “Zar'it” barracks and soldiers in its vicinity with rockets and artillery, destroying part of it. They also confronted Israeli soldiers who tried to infiltrate the “Hadab Ayta” forest area in southern Lebanon, and targeted the “Biyad Blida” site with a “Burkan” missile.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that air raid sirens sounded in the Margaliot area in northern Israel on the border with Lebanon.

Israeli admission of killing of soldier

The Israeli army announced the death of a sergeant who was wounded in a drone attack in the town of Yara in the Western Galilee, northern Israel, which was launched this morning from Lebanon. Israeli sources also confirmed that 4 others were injured.

Thus, the number of Israeli soldiers killed since last October in northern Israel and the occupied Syrian Golan has risen to 23, in addition to 26 civilians killed, according to Israeli authorities, by rockets and shells fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon.

The Israeli army said that it had monitored the launch of drones from Lebanon towards the Western Galilee region, and that the air defense system intercepted a number of them, while a number of others fell in different locations, which led to the outbreak of fires.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that 3 drones were detected launched at the Western Galilee, and 10 rockets targeted the Zarit area in the Upper Galilee.

For its part, the Israeli army said that its aircraft attacked Hezbollah military buildings in the areas of Aita al-Shaab, Beit Lif and Houla, in southern Lebanon, and that it attacked a Hezbollah missile launch pad in the Qabrikha area, in southern Lebanon.

Iran: Israel should think before any attack

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that Israel should think twice before carrying out any attack on Lebanon.

In a press conference, he called on the United States to assume responsibility and deal with matters wisely.

In the same context, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza, said that the killing of civilians and humanitarian workers in southern Lebanon must stop.

During a tour of a number of humanitarian service centers in southern Lebanon, Reda stressed the need to reach a political solution to end the escalation in the border area.

Since October 8, 2023, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, have been exchanging daily shelling with the Israeli army across the Blue Line, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, most of them on the Lebanese side.

The factions are linking the cessation of the bombing to Israel ending its war, with American support, on Gaza Strip Since October 7, which left more than 132,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.
