Israeli Minister Calls for 'Swift Elimination' of Sinwar | News

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz called on Tuesday evening for the “swift liquidation” of Yahya Sinwar, shortly after his appointment as head of the political bureau of Hamas, succeeding Ismail Haniyeh, who was martyred in Tehran last week.

Katz wrote on the “X” platform that appointing Sinwar as head of Hamas, succeeding Ismail Haniyeh, “is an additional reason to quickly eliminate him and wipe this despicable organization off the map.”

Israel accuses Sinwar (62 years old) of being behind the attack of October 7, 2023. Israel arrested him several times and sentenced him to four life sentences, before the resistance freed him in the prisoner exchange deal in 2011, known as the Gilad Shalit deal.

He then returned to his activities in the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and was elected head of the movement in the Gaza Strip in 2017 and again in 2021.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been waging a war on Gaza, resulting in more than 131,000 deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.
