The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted security officials as saying that the Israeli army's operations in the Gaza Strip have generally ended.

The officials added that the security establishment informed the political leadership that the time had come to strike a deal to return the Israeli detainees.

The same sources said that Israel could re-enter the Gaza Strip when new intelligence information becomes available.
