iPhone 12 Pro Max vs. Galaxy S20 Ultra: Who Wins?

The most powerful iPhone 12 model has just been announced. With some very interesting features, the Pro Max version is set to compete directly with the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Let's find out who comes out on top in this fight!

Screen and resolution

Both models come with very interesting features. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 and Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

Apple's model comes with an evolution of its Retina display with the 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED and 1242 x 2688 resolution, with Gorilla Glass 6 protection that is also present on the rear glass of the device.

It's hard to pick a winner. There are some really interesting advantages to Apple's Retina display, especially for those who often share something on their phone with a group of people. However, with a larger screen and such a high resolution, Samsung's progress is something to be reckoned with.

So, even if it's just a little bit, the S20 Ultra takes this one.

Hardware

Apple has come up with an evolution of its processor, the Apple A14, now with 5 nanometers to maintain excellent performance. The Pro Max is also equipped with 6GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage and a 3700 mAh battery, smaller than the previous model.

The S20 Ultra comes with the powerful Exynos 990 and a monstrous 12GB of DDR5 RAM with 128GB of internal storage expandable up to 1TB. The model is also equipped with a 5000 mAh LiPo battery to handle all that performance.

Here again, the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes out on top. But if you're an Apple fan, you won't be disappointed. Everyone already knows that iOS has better optimization and consumes less hardware.

With an evolution in all aspects, the iPhone 12 Pro Max only lacks battery life, which despite having faster charging can still fail at the wrong times.

Camera

The S20 Ultra is an aberration. The model comes with 3 rear cameras of 108Mp, 48Mp and 12Mp that film in 8k at a resolution of 12000 x 9000, with stabilization and 4x optical zoom and a 40Mp front camera that films in 4K with facial detection.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a 12 MP, 12 MP, 12 MP quad camera with TOF 3D LiDAR depth sensor that photographs and films in Ultrawide and 4K up to 60fps with stabilization and 3x optical zoom and a dual 12Mp front camera with ToF 3D as a depth and biometrics sensor that films in 4K.

Here Samsung wins again. With several upgrades, Apple has caught up in the fight, including improving night mode, but it still can't compete at the same level as its rival. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is the famous one that gives everything in the camera and takes another.

Cost benefit

Here, Samsung wins hands down. The Galaxy S20 Ultra can be found in the R$4,800 range, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max should arrive here in the R$6,400 range.

A considerable difference, especially considering that the S20 Ultra won in all aspects.
