House of the Dragon: How many seasons are left? – News Series
The end of the series “House of the Dragon” has been announced; when will the prequel to “Game of Thrones”, whose season 2 has just finished airing, end?
While its second season has just ended, the end of House of the Dragon has also just been announced. The Game of Thrones prequel, already renewed for a season 3, will end at the end of its fourth season, also officially ordered by the Max platform.
Filming for season 3 will begin in early 2025, but a broadcast as early as next year seems unlikely. Several years separate us from the grand finale of the series, which explores the origins of the Targaryens and the disappearance of the dragons at the end of the so-called Battle of “Dance of the Dragons”.
These four seasons follow the plan imagined by the creator of the program, Ryan J. Condal. Let us recall that the series was co-created by George RR Martin, based on several chapters of his anthology work Fire & BloodThe end of House of the Dragon does not mean the end of the fantasy franchise, quite the contrary…
What are the franchise's next projects?
A new prequel called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms began filming just a few weeks ago. This adaptation of the chronicles of the Knight Errant features the duo formed by Ser Duncan (nicknamed Dunk) and his young squire, Egg. The plot of this series takes place approximately 70 years before the beginning of Game of Thrones.
No fewer than seven series are also in development, including a prequel devoted to Aegon the Conqueror – the very first sovereign of the kingdom of the Seven Kingdoms.
An animated series about the youth of the Sea Serpent Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) is also in the works. The spin-off series about Jon Snow is no longer in the works.
All the series derived from the Game of Thrones universe can now be found exclusively on Max.
