Today, Sunday, the Lebanese Hezbollah intensified its attacks on Israeli positions off the southern border of Lebanon, while the Israeli army was placed on maximum alert on the northern border, amid fears of the expansion of the war and Iran and Hezbollah carrying out extensive attacks.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that three missiles were fired towards an Israeli site in the occupied Shebaa Farms in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.

Israeli media reported that a factory in the city of Kiryat Shmona in the Upper Galilee was hit by a rocket fired from southern Lebanon. This did not coincide with the activation of air raid sirens, so an investigation has been opened into the incident.

Hezbollah said that it bombed the settlement of Beit Hillel in the Galilee Finger at dawn today for the first time with dozens of Katyusha rockets. The party also announced that it targeted the sites of Birkat Reisha, Al-Manara, Ramia and Al-Malikiya.

Israeli raids

In return, Israeli warplanes launched a raid on the towns of Houla and Beit Lif, wounding 3 people. They also targeted the towns of Rub Thalatheen and Balat, and artillery shelled the surroundings of the towns of Shebaa, Ramya and Aitaroun in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that one person was killed in the raid on Houla and three others were injured in the raid on the town of Beit Lif.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health's Public Health Emergency Operations Center said in a statement that “the enemy's raid resulted in the initial death of one person, while ambulance teams are still working to remove the rubble.”

State of alert

In a related context, the Israeli website “Walla” revealed that the Israeli army was placed on maximum alert on the northern borders of Israel, amid fears of the war expanding and Iran and Hezbollah carrying out extensive attacks.

The Israeli website said that the commander of the Northern Command, Uri Gordin, visited army units and air defense systems in the north to see the preparations of the home front.

The website added that the Israeli General Staff ordered the reinforcement of the forces of the Northern Front Command and raising the level of alert.

Meanwhile, the Saudi embassy in Lebanon renewed its call for Saudi citizens to leave Lebanese territory immediately in compliance with the decision to ban travel to Lebanon. The Saudi embassy said, in a statement on the X platform, that it is closely following developments in southern Lebanon.

A French Foreign Ministry website advised French nationals to leave Lebanon as soon as possible. France has been keen in the past period to urge its citizens not to travel to Lebanon at all in these circumstances.

Since October 8, 2023, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, have been exchanging daily shelling with the Israeli army across the “Blue Line” separating the two sides, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, most of them on the Lebanese side.

Hezbollah is making the cessation of the bombing conditional on Israel ending the war it has been waging with American support on the Gaza Strip since October 7, which has left more than 130,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.
