Emily in Paris on Netflix: did you recognize this HPI actress?

Netflix is having fun making nice winks to the French public with “Emily in Paris”. This is again the case in this season 4 where fans were able to find one of the main actresses of “HPI”.

Finally a role in English! Belgian-American actress Bérangère McNeese, well known for her role as Daphné Forestier in the hit TF1 series HPI, makes a notable incursion in the fourth season of Emily in Paris.

As a reminder, in HPI, Daphné Forestier is a police officer specializing in administrative research, known for her keen sense of rules and procedures, as well as for her ability to assert herself in a world dominated by men. An endearing character who contributes to the popularity of the series with the public.

Emily's double?

In Emily in Paris, Bérangère McNeese plays Sabine, an employee at the prestigious Baccarat crystal factory. Her character plays a key role in episode 3 of the first part of season 4, where she is involved in a collaboration with Maison Lavaux, the company of Antoine Lambert (William Abadie), for the launch of a new perfume.

Sabine's appearance culminates at the perfume launch party, which Baccarat throws as a masquerade party. This is where the show's humor really shines: by a twist of fate, Sabine and Emily end up dressed identically, a situation that leads to a funny and cruel scene where Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), Emily's ex-boyfriend, mistakes Sabine for Emily and kisses her by mistake.

This misunderstanding is one of the highlights of this episode, offering Bérangère McNeese a memorable scene in the series. But it is also a particularly heartbreaking moment for Alfie who realizes at that moment that Emily (Lily Collins) is leaving the party on the arm of Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), his eternal rival.

No career in Hollywood

This participation of Bérangère McNeese in Emily in Paris – although brief – allows the actress to play in English but above all to finally be seen by her American family as she explains in this interview with the Dutch-speaking Belgian magazine The day. She also says that she plans to make a career in France: “Even though my English is perfect, I don't dream of a career in Hollywood. America offers many opportunities, but there is also a lot of competition.“
