“Dr. Doom”: US crash prophet Nouriel Roubini plans his own ETF

Economist Nouriel Roubini, who was nicknamed “Dr. Doom” for his disaster warnings before the 2008 financial crisis, now wants to make a name for himself in the ETF universe. This is according to a report from the business magazine Bloomberg The crash prophet is planning to launch his own ETF.
According to the media report, Atlas America, of which he is one of three portfolio managers, is to be actively managed. The fund is to represent a variety of assets, including US government, corporate and municipal bonds, real estate, stocks and gold. This is stated in an application submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The fund aims to generate stable returns with low volatility and limited correlation with the broader stock markets.
Roubini questions the state of the US economy
After becoming known for his prescient view of the housing bubble that sparked the 2008 crisis, Roubini has regularly expressed skepticism about the ongoing rise in U.S. stocks, often questioning the health of the U.S. economy.
He recently co-authored a report in which he accused the US Treasury of manipulating the issuance of debt securities in such a way that the real cost of borrowing for the entire economy would fall. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen firmly rejected this accusation.
