Central Bank of Libya: One of its managers kidnapped, operations suspended
The Central Bank of Libya announced that it has suspended all its operations due to the kidnapping of one of its managers.
In a statement made by the bank, it was stated that Information Technologies Manager Musab Muslim was abducted from in front of his house this morning by unidentified persons and that some officials were threatened.
The statement condemned and rejected the act of kidnapping and threat, and noted that the kidnapped manager was released and all operations of the Central Bank were suspended until he returned to work.
NO INFORMATION GIVEN
While the Central Bank of Libya did not provide any information about the reason and background of the kidnapping of Information Technologies Director Muslim, it was noteworthy that the incident occurred after the House of Representatives' statement that “attempts to take over the Central Bank of Libya by certain individuals” were rejected.
The House of Representatives statement noted that “these attempts began with the instigation of the raid on the bank's headquarters and the subsequent efforts to find justification for the removal of the Central Bank Governor, Siddiq al-Kabir, by force and threats.”
