BHZ by SEG Motor: New electric motor with up to 65 Nm!
BH has announced the new BHZ by SEG motor for the next generation of light-assist e-bikes. This motor is said to weigh a slim 2.1 kilos, making it lighter and more compact than many comparable models.
Short & sweet: BHZ by SEG
- new, in-house light assist motor from BH and SEG
- 65 Nm torque, 500 watts peak power (250 watts continuous)
- Weight: approx. 2.1 kilos (engine, manufacturer information)
- 2.6 kg light 630 Wh battery, (+180 Wh range extender)
- Display and controller
- is said to be one of the quietest drives on the market
Heart of the system: The BHZ by SEG Motor
For its size, it promises an impressive 65 Nm and a peak power of 500 watts – that's on a par with Shimano's new EP5. A special feature of the BHZ by SEG is its three sensors for torque, speed and cadence. According to the manufacturer, these should be able to record more than 1,000 measurements per second to enable the motor to adapt immediately to the driving conditions. This is supported by a new microprocessor that processes the data and ensures a quick response. The new BHZ by SEG motor is to be produced in Spain.

Super light battery
The associated 630 Wh battery of the BHZ motor is also comparatively light at 2.6 kg – here too Shimano for comparison: an intube battery from the Japanese weighs around a kilo more. According to SEG, new cells are used in the batteries that should achieve a higher energy capacity with the same volume. In addition to a possible longer range, the new battery should also enable a lower center of gravity. This could encourage the development of compact and elegant frames without negatively affecting the range. In addition, the capacity can be increased using an external 180 Wh range extender.

Displays, controllers & Co.: Everything available, everything designed for simplicity
The BHZ by SEG motor is controlled via the so-called “iRemote” control unit with three buttons. The three support modes (Boost, Trail, Eco), the motor acceleration when starting and the speed in walking mode can be set to your own preferences using the iConnectz app. Really cool: The iRemote is compatible with Garmin devices – so all information can be clearly displayed on the bike computer.
iLynx Trail and iLynx Race Carbon with BHZ unit
For the first time, the BHZ by SEG motor will be installed in the iLynx Trail and Race Carbon models. The design should be similar to the non-motorized models, with the same frame geometry, split pivot rear triangle, integrated cable routing and seat post clamp.
The carbon frame of the iLynx Race is said to weigh a slim 2,065 grams, the iLynx Trail frame 2,200 grams. Aluminum versions are also available. The suspension travel is 140, 150 or 120 mm, depending on the model. The iLynx Trail costs from 4,299 euros, the iLynx Race Carbon from 6,299 euros.
