A martyr, raids in the West Bank, and the occupation blows up the homes of two prisoners | News

A young Palestinian man was killed by Israeli occupation forces during violent clashes that erupted in the city of Ramallah, while raids on cities and towns in the occupied West Bank continued.

According to Al Jazeera’s correspondent, the clashes began after the occupation forces stormed the city of Ramallah, which led to violent clashes with Palestinian youths who tried to confront the storming by throwing stones and Molotov cocktails.

The young man, whose identity has not yet been announced, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he died.

At dawn on Tuesday, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Qalqilya and toured its neighborhoods, which caused a state of tension and anxiety among the city’s residents.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent also reported that the occupation forces stormed Askar camp in the West Bank city of Nablus this morning.

No details have yet been provided about the nature of the operation or whether there were clashes or arrests during this raid.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced yesterday, Monday, the martyrdom of the young man, Tariq Ziad Abdul Rahim Daoud (18 years old), after the Israeli army shot him in the town of Azzun, east of the city of Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank.

According to local sources in Qalqilya, the martyr Daoud had engaged in an armed clash with the Israeli occupation forces after he opened fire on an Israeli military post near the town of Azzun.

The sources reported that the clash led to the martyrdom of Daoud, as the Israeli army pursued him and killed him in the area near Azzun, and the army detained his body following the incident.

According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the occupation forces tightened their military measures around the town of Azzun after the incident, as they set up military checkpoints at its western entrance and closed the Jayyous Bridge road that connects the town to the city of Tulkarm.

The occupation forces also closed the main northern entrance to the town with an iron gate, a measure that has been in place since last October.

It is noteworthy that Daoud was released as part of a prisoner exchange deal that took place in stages between the Palestinian factions and Israel last November.

Two houses bombed in Ramallah and Al-Bireh

In another development, the Israeli occupation forces blew up two houses in Ramallah and Al-Bireh in the West Bank.

The bombing targeted the home of prisoner Ayser Barghouti in the Al-Tira neighborhood in Ramallah and the home of prisoner Khaled Al-Kharouf in the Umm Al-Sharait neighborhood in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that the occupation forces stormed the area last night, and surrounded the two houses before booby-trapping them in preparation for blowing them up.

This explosion comes as part of the punitive demolition policy pursued by the occupation against the homes of Palestinian prisoners and resistance fighters, which aims to pressure families and deter resistance activities.

Arrest of Al-Shatri

In the city of Nablus, the Israeli occupation forces launched a wide-scale raid campaign that included several neighborhoods in the city, and the campaign resulted in the arrest of the leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Zaher Al-Shatri.

Local sources reported that large forces of the occupation army stormed Al-Shatri’s house, searched it and destroyed its contents before arresting him.

Al-Shatri is one of the prominent leaders of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and is known for his activity in confronting the occupation and inciting resistance.

On the other hand, the city of Jenin, in the northern West Bank, witnessed a large-scale military raid by the Israeli occupation forces, which entered the city via the airport road with military bulldozers.

The occupation forces also stormed Nazareth Street in the city center and opened heavy and random fire, causing a state of terror and panic among the residents.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the operations of the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank have escalated.

According to official statistics, the number of Palestinian martyrs in the West Bank has reached 623 so far, in addition to about 5,400 wounded.
