A Little Something Extra will finally exceed 10 million admissions in France! – Cinema News

3 and a half months after its release in theaters, “Un P'tit truc en plus” will cross the 10 million admissions mark. The film enters the Top 10 of the most watched French comedies of all time in France, just behind “Les Bronzés 3”.
After the meteoric rise of Un P'tit truc en plus, when it was released in theaters on May 1st (best start of the year, before finally being overtaken by Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4), the number experts quickly announced that the comedy directed by Artus was able to reach 10 million admissions.
After a little over 3 and a half months of operation, it will be done tomorrow! As Artus has just revealed, this threshold will be crossed tomorrow, precisely on his birthday! There are some pretty crazy things happening in this film. I can already tell you: tomorrow, we're going to pass the 10 million mark, and tomorrow is Bibi's birthday. De Niro's too, but it's mostly my birthday! We're going to pass the 10 million mark on my birthday. It's crazy!“
Not content with being the most-watched film of 2024 in France, currently ahead of Vice Versa 2 and The Count of Monte Cristo, it also breaks several records.
33rd all-time success in France
If we take into account the “all time” Top since the box office has been measured in France, Un P'tit truc en plus is 33rd. It has overtaken Les Misérables (9,968,993 admissions), and is just behind The Lion King 2019 version (10,041,565 admissions) and The War of the Buttons (10,035,711 admissions).
If we focus on French comedies, the film even enters the top 10 of French comedies, between Les Bronzés 3 (10,229,483 admissions) and Le Diner de cons (9,248,548 admissions).
With the film's DVD release scheduled for September, the number of cinema admissions should logically drop, and cinemas should increasingly leave room for new releases for the new season, after a quieter summer in terms of releases, particularly due to the Paris Olympics.
But if the film's success continues a little longer at the cinema, it could surpass Les Bronzés 3, but also 3 hommes et un couffin, Le Corniaud and Qu'est ce qu'on a fait au bon dieu, all three with around 10.2 million admissions, if we only consider French comedies.
A DVD release at the start of the school year
For those who missed the phenomenon at the cinema, a catch-up session will be possible very soon, thanks to the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film, set for September 11. For those in a hurry, the film will be available for digital purchase on VOD platforms from August 29.
After these excellent box office scores, what's next for the film and its team? In 2025, a documentary should be released, telling the behind-the-scenes story of the phenomenon. It will complement the 12 minutes of bonus material already visible in the extended version of Un P'tit truc en plus, which has been showing in participating cinemas since July.
What about the Caesars?
Could we imagine that the film would be represented at the Césars, the comedy genre being very rarely rewarded? On this subject, Artus gave the following answer, in the columns of Le Parisien, a few weeks ago. “I prefer to expect nothing and have good surprises. I would like nominations for the supporting roles too. Arnaud, at least, would deserve a nomination.”
At Cannes, I had two or three responses from people in the arthouse cinema who said thank you. Thanks to successes like ours, we will be able to finance small films.
Asked about the fact that comedy is often snubbed by the Césars, Artus continues: “The big family of cinema does not exist. There are two completely distant families. But what pleased me was that in Cannes, I had two or three responses from people from auteur cinema who thanked me. Thanks to successes like ours, we will be able to finance small films. I would like there to be recognition. Comedies, we spit on them when they come out, and thirty years later, we give them an honorary César (reference to the troupe of “Les Bronzés” rewarded in 2021, Editor's note from Le Parisien), it's a bit hypocritical.“
What plans does Artus have after Un P'tit Truc en plus?
The actor, screenwriter and director revealed what project he wanted to direct after Un P'tit truc en plus. For the moment, the idea of a sequel is not being considered. Artus “prefers to move on to other projects“.
As he indicated to Le Parisien, his next feature film will be the adaptation of a play that he signed, Duels à Davidéjonatown, and which he presents as “a slightly crazy western“.
Note that Artus is already planning to include contributions from the Un P'tit Truc gang in addition: “You'll all be in the next one! There'll be a little wink in any case“, he indicated in the columns of Le Parisien.
Regarding a potential sequel, Artus initially replied: “It's not out of the question, but we really need to find the right idea.“. In Le Parisien, he specifies: “I'm not a big fan of sequels, I think they always ruin the movies.“.
While waiting for its western, a feline animated film!

From October 16, 2024, Artus will be in the voice cast of an animated film: Croquette the Wonderful Cat.
The pitch? It's well known that cats have several lives! Croquette has just ruined one too many and he would do anything to find Rose, his beloved mistress. He is given one last chance, however one rule has changed: Croquette can come back, but with one detail… Now transformed into a horse, dog, parrot or fish, the adventure has only just begun!
Croquette the Wonderful Cat is directed by Christopher Jenkins, who previously directed Destination Pékin!. Artus had already lent his voice to the films Steve, bête de combat by Hamish Grieve, and more recently Cat and Dog by Reem Kherici.
In the adaptation of a comic strip

Artus will then be the headliner of an ambitious new feature film, adapted from a successful comic strip. RTL revealed that the successful comedian and humorist would play the lead role in Christophe Barratier's new feature film.
After having directed The New War of the Buttons, Faubourg 36 and The Time of Secrets, Christophe Barratier will direct an adaptation of the successful comic strip Children of the Resistance, by Benoît Ers and Vincent Dugomier.
The film will adapt two of the albums, and other adaptations could follow if successful. The feature film will tell “Resistance at child's height“. “It tells the story of the adventures of three children, two boys and a little girl, during the first months of the Occupation, in a small village located next to the demarcation line.summarizes Christophe Barratier on RTL.
Because of an injustice they witness, these three children, for fun, will start with little pranks, like making slightly insulting graffiti on German propaganda posters, but little by little they will get into this game, and enter into (…) the first acts of resistance. (…) They call their network the lynx. (…) They will enter into an increasingly dangerous game..”
RTL reveals that one of the parents, who has the main role, will be played by Artus.I admit I'm quite glad I offered him the role before his film came out.“, Christophe Barratier told RTL. Filming is planned for this fall.
Let's specify that Artus is also expected to appear in a film presented at Cannes last May, La Pampa by Antoine Chevrollier, which is set for release on February 5, 2025. La Pampa follows Willy and Jojo, two childhood friends who are never apart. To kill boredom, they train at La Pampa, a motocross track. One evening, Willy discovers Jojo's secret…
A Little Something Extra by and with Artus is currently showing. It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 11, 2024.
