In the semi-final matches, both teams squandered a one-goal lead and came out defeated, leaving them with a chance to crown their participation with a historic bronze medal.

The Moroccan Olympic team was no better off than the “Atlas Lions”, who achieved the semi-finals for the first time in their history at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before losing to France in the semi-finals and finishing in fourth place.

On the other hand, the third place was not fixed for the Egyptian team, as it was eliminated from the semi-finals for the third time after 1928 and 1964, when it came in fourth place.

In the first match, Morocco was the first to score through the competition's top scorer so far with 6 goals, Soufiane Rahimi (37 from a penalty kick), but Spain turned the tables thanks to Barcelona striker Fermin Lopez, who took advantage of a Moroccan defensive lapse and equalized (66) and set up the winning goal for Sevilla defender Juanlu Sanchez (85).

In the second match, Egypt, who played with ten players after the expulsion of their defender Omar Fayed (92), was the first to score through Mahmoud Saber (62), and France responded with three goals scored by Jean-Philippe Mateta (83 and 99) and Mickael Oliseh (108). The host country, France, set up a date on Friday at the Parc des Princes with Spain, who beat Morocco 2-1 in Marseille.
