Understand the differences between 4G, 4G+ and 4.5G

With 5G already making its appearance all over the world and with some devices on our market already prepared for the technology, many people still don't know the differences between 4G connections, so we've prepared this text to help you.

What is 4G?

4G is the acronym for the Fourth Generation of mobile telephony. Launched in 2010, it has been 10 years since the technology revolutionized the way we connect, with much lower latency than the previous GSM technology and much greater efficiency without consuming network spectrum.

In Brazil, technology has taken the place of the analogue television signal, which has been switched off in the country by Anatel as a way of increasing connectivity throughout the country at a much lower cost.

4G+ and 4.5G are the same thing

With the fourth generation technology already consolidated in the market, it has undergone some updates in these 10 years. Moving from traditional LTE to LTE Advanced. In Brazil, the technology arrived with Vivo in 4G+ and with Claro in 4.5G in an even more updated version, which is LTE Advanced Pro.

These terms are just marketing ploys for the same solution. A more stable 4G connection that uses more than one frequency simultaneously, also increasing speed. LTE Advanced can also use 4 antennas to increase data transmission between the device and the operator.

What does all this mean?

The evolution of 4G allows us to transmit and receive more data in less time, as data traffic occurs across more bands. In Brazil, the bands used are 2,600 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 700 MHz. In 2020, we began to adapt to the popularization of 5G connections, which will enable a new revolution in data transmission.
