For several months, Manon has been in a wheelchair with a paralyzed leg in Tomorrow Belongs to Us. But will the young woman ever walk again?
Last May, Manon's (Louvia Bachelier) life changed in Tomorrow Belongs to Us.
It was during a police operation that the Daunier girl was the victim of a serious road accident. Indeed, while Manon and Nordine (Youcef Agal) were tailing a burglar, they hit Victor Brunet's (Farouk Bermouga) car head-on.
Since then, Manon has been in a wheelchair with a paralyzed leg. If this unexpected development was an important turning point in the character's story, it was also for Louvia Bachelier, her interpreter.
A new challenge for Louvia Bachelier
“When I learned that, I was a little scared but I was also excited. It's a turning point for Manon's character with something completely new. Even from a personal point of view, filming with a wheelchair is where you learn a lot of things.” the actress recently confided to Allociné.
And to add, “It's a totally different way of playing. And then it also allows her to grow and see her in situations in which we weren't used to seeing her until now. There are lots of things to play, especially since it happened at the time when Manon and Nordine separated. Even for them, it changed a lot of things.“.
Following this script choice, Louvia Bachelier therefore learned to use a wheelchair. A task that turned out to be much more complex than she imagined. She explained, “When I had my first wheelchair sequences, I couldn't cope. I really had to learn how to move around“.
Will Manon walk again?
After months spent in a wheelchair, will Manon regain the use of her leg? We asked Louvia Bachelier.
“It's a psychological block so we don't know when Manon will manage to regain the use of her leg. But it's certain that she will eventually get there. I hope so anyway.” she replied.
