This is how the Israeli “summer camps” operation began in the West Bank | News

The occupation forces launched a large-scale military operation called “Summer Camps”, through which they reoccupied the northern West Bank. The attack included the governorates of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas and their camps simultaneously.

According to a report prepared by Salam Khader, the forces entered from several axes, one of which attacked the Jenin Governorate from three axes. They penetrated from the Jalameh checkpoint to the north and from the Salem and Dotan checkpoints to the west, and at the same time additional forces stormed Tulkarm from the Nitzan Ya'oz axes to the west and the Jabara checkpoints to the south and Anab checkpoints to the east.

In the eastern part of Tulkarm, the operation was more focused, as the occupation forces carried out a paratrooper landing and then stormed the city from the eastern side via the Al-Hamra and Atouf axes.

As the Israeli attack tightened, the penetration began to deepen. While the occupation forces moved inside Jenin to surround the hospitals and prevent access to them, the resistance increased the pace of its attacks.

Violent clashes

In contrast, the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – said that its fighters, in cooperation with the factions, were engaging in clashes in the city, the camp and the surrounding areas, which forced the occupation forces to request additional reinforcements.

Meanwhile, the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement – was talking about violent clashes and direct confrontations in Kafr Dan, while fighting was raging in Tulkarm and the Nur Shams camp.

The Al-Quds Brigades said that its fighters blew up a military bulldozer in the camp and shot down Israeli drones. It added that it had identified snipers positioned on the camp buildings and surrounding areas.

In Tubas, the Far'a camp was a target for the invading forces. After the landing and the penetration of the ground forces, violent clashes took place between the army, supported by the air force, and the Palestinian factions.

The occupation forces are trying to besiege the northern West Bank, where the ground incursion comes with extensive air support after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant lifted the ban on the use of fighter jets in the West Bank about two months ago.

About a full division is participating in the operations, including the Duvdevan (undercover) unit, which is one of the special units that specializes in carrying out security missions and is active in gathering information and carrying out raids and arrests in the West Bank. It includes elements of the Israeli army and the Border Guard and operates within Palestinian population centers.

The Kfir Brigade, the fifth regular brigade among the elite infantry brigades and the largest in the army, is also participating in the operation. It includes five battalions, four of which are combat, in addition to a reconnaissance battalion.

The large-scale operation – which the Israeli media said could last for days – coincides with political calls to reoccupy the West Bank at a time when the resistance factions have expanded the scope of their military operations in terms of quantity and quality.

Despite the strict control that cities and towns are subject to on everyone entering and leaving them, the resistance fighters were able to develop local explosive devices capable of achieving certain hits on Israeli vehicles.

The resistance was also able to carry out qualitative operations similar to what is happening in the Gaza Strip in terms of direct fighting, monitoring and tracking operations.
