Sonos app will continue to cause problems for months | Life & Knowledge

Speaker manufacturer Sonos is paying a lot for its wireless sound. It's just a shame when popular functions suddenly disappear or music can no longer be played at all. This is currently the case for thousands of customers of the US manufacturer.

The reason is an app update from May that has made users furious. Android and Apple users are affected equally.

▶ In the Google Play Store, the application has slipped from an average of 3.6 (out of 5 possible) stars to 1.1 – which is only 0.1 points better than the worst possible rating. A total of 175,000 people have rated the Sonos app.

▶ In Apple's App Store, the application still has 4.3 stars (150,000 ratings). However, the reviews of the last few days have been devastating, with one complaint after another.

Sonos gives evasive answer

BILD asked Sonos and wanted to know what the problem was. The company's evasive explanation: “Some functions are not yet available as usual.” Because they are taking “time and effort” to make everything work “seamlessly” again, functions will be “integrated into the app in the coming months.”

The functions that are faulty or no longer available after the app update are basic things such as the creation of playlists and the sleep timer – all applications that are sorely missed by users.

Why Sonos, which sometimes charges several hundred euros for its speakers, has launched an obviously completely immature app remains unclear.

Due to public pressure, even the top boss of the Californian company (headquartered in Santa Barbara) has now spoken out. Patrick Spence claims to “The Verge” that the app has been “tested for months by everyone at Sonos”. The application, which has been criticized countless times, “offers a better experience overall”.
