Why not buy a TV from a discount store?
In the online shop of Aldi There is currently an offer that will make many people think about whether their living room could use an upgrade in time for the European Football Championship: a Samsung TVs with a 50-inch screen for under 500 euros. The discounter promises a whopping 53 percent below the RRP (1049 euros).
But is it really a good deal?

Christoph de Leuw, head of the hardware department COMPUTER IMAGEclassifies the offer: “The Samsung GU50CU8589 on offer is a close relative of the CU8079 we tested – test score 2.2 with really good colors, decent contrast and sufficient brightness.”

De Leuw: “The features are typical for the price range with three HDMI and two USB ports, but no recording function and no headphone output. Instead, there is Bluetooth. And, typical for Samsung, all imaginable streaming functions. According to the information available, the CU8589 only seems to differ in its design.”
And how good is the price really?
A comparison shows: Aldi is actually the cheapest option for the device at 489 euros. However, you can also find the television at other retailers for under 500 euros.
And the television has even been cheaper before: the price comparison Idealo (which, like BILD, belongs to Axel Springer) registered a low price of 469 euros in November 2023. And the television was never traded at the mentioned RRP of 1049 euros.
The expert's conclusion: “It is still cheap, because the CU8079 of the same size currently costs 650 euros.”
