In just a few days, on July 10, electronics giant Samsung will be making a big splash in Paris, showcasing new smartphones and wearables.
Much is still secret – but an expected premiere is attracting special attention in advance.
A ring as a fitness tracker
The most exciting new product is a small gem whose capabilities are not apparent at first glance: the Galaxy Ring.
Presented Samsung it once before, very briefly at the beginning of the year. But now it is coming onto the market for the first time. COMPUTER IMAGE was able to take a look at the ring for yourself at the CES: From the outside, it looks like a solid wedding ring, and in addition to gold, it is also available in black and silver – and in different sizes.
What's really important is hidden on the inside: sensors that invisibly record important health and fitness values - including physical activity, steps, sleep and possibly heart rate. The ring can be paired with Samsung phones and spits out health and fitness warnings and recommendations via the Health app.

If you prefer classic watches or don't want to constantly look at a display on your wrist, the ring saves you the trouble of buying a smartwatch. Samsung is not the first manufacturer of a smart ring, but it could be the first to target a mass market.
Even though Samsung’s ring is probably not made of real gold or silver, there is one thing it should not be: cheap. The Oura Ring 3, introduced in 2021, cost between 314 and 419 euros at launch, depending on the variant. At least significantly cheaper than a wedding ring.
Sixth generation of folding phones
Two new folding phones are also expected – here Samsung is a pioneer, Apple has nothing to offer. The smaller Flip 6 is a giant smartphone with a 6.7-inch display when unfolded, but shrinks to Hanuta size when folded. So it fits in any pocket.
The highlight: Thanks to a second display on the outside, the phone can also be used folded up, for example for selfies.
The large folding phone, Fold 6, is a power phone for mobile working. Photos from the rumor mill show a new, more angular design. Disadvantage: Like its predecessor, it is very thick and clunky, not suitable for a trouser pocket.
Apple is the secret role model for this watch
The first “Ultra” watch from Samsung is also expected. Its secret role model: the Apple Watch Ultra.
Pictures circulating on the Internet, which Samsung has since removed from the network, reveal striking similarities to the Apple model: rectangular case, presumably also made of titanium – even the orange action button and the orange wavy strap are on board.
Samsung is also taking its cues from Apple in terms of technology: the brightness is expected to reach 3000 nits, and with 10 ATM it would be submersible to 100 meters. In addition to the Ultra, a cheaper Galaxy Watch with a simple design and round case is also expected.
