The Poco M2 and Poco M3 are mid-range smartphones from Xiaomi that, although they have subtle differences, can count a lot when purchasing one or the other.
This is because, depending on your needs when buying a smartphone, you may want one with a better screen resolution or a good camera. However, those who use their cell phone to perform multiple tasks may need more RAM.
All of these features should be considered – and when it comes to purchasing, no difference is too subtle to ignore.
Poco M2 vs. Poco M3: what are the differences between them?
Poco M2
Launched in September 2020, the Poco M2 comes with Android 10 and MIUI 11 out of the box.
Its 128 GB storage is expandable and its 6 GB RAM provides good performance for multitasking.
The highlight of its features is the rear camera, which is quadruple and offers 13 MP + 8 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP.
The smartphone does not yet support 5G connectivity, but when analyzed as a whole, it can be a good mid-range option, as it will not bring storage headaches any time soon.
The 5,000 mAh battery guarantees good battery life – which should also be taken into account.

Poco M3: main differences
The Poco M3, which was launched in November, brings some changes compared to the previous model. Check out each one below:
Camera
The Poco M3's rear camera – which has 48 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP – is superior to that of the Poco M2. However, instead of four cameras, the M3 offers a triple set.
Interface
While the Poco M2 offers MIUI 11, the M3 already comes with MIUI 12 out of the box – currently one of the latest versions of the interface, alongside MIUI 12.5.
Processor
The processor is also something to consider when purchasing: the Poco M2 offers a MediaTek Helio G80, while the Poco M3's chipset is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662. The former tends to be considered better, as it has dynamic frequency scaling, AES, and TrsutZone. In terms of speed, however, both are equivalent.
RAM
Surprisingly, the Poco M2's RAM, at 6 GB, is larger than that of its successor, which only has 4 GB. Those who want to use their smartphone for multiple tasks tend to prefer the former.
Video
The resolution of the videos recorded on both smartphones also differs: the Poco M2 allows you to record in Full HD, while the M3 offers videos in 4K (2160p).
Battery
Finally, the Poco M3 is superior in terms of battery: with 6,000 mAh, it tends to last longer than its predecessor.
