Israeli media reported that 20 soldiers in the Israeli occupation army refused to return to fight in the Gaza Strip, while some of them were notified that they would be subject to a military trial if they did not return.

The official Israeli Broadcasting Authority said yesterday, Wednesday, that “about 20 soldiers in the (Israeli) infantry brigade asked not to return to fighting in Gaza this week.”

She added, “About 10 soldiers received notice on Tuesday that they would be brought to trial for refusing a military order if they did not agree to return to the Strip.”

The organization quoted some soldiers as saying that after 10 months of fighting in Gaza, they were no longer able to return, but they were ready to carry out other missions.

According to the organization, “similar voices about the difficulties come from additional battalions in other brigades fighting in the sector.”

She quoted the families of some of these soldiers as saying that their sons “are forced to participate in the ground maneuver in Gaza, or they will go to prison. This is unbelievable.”

The families added that “there are only a few soldiers left in their company (their sons' company) who are able to fight. This is the time for us, the parents, to help them confront the system that does not care about them.”
