New York Special Unit: this strange request that Mariska Hargitay (Benson) had to face – News Series

Over the years, Mariska Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson, has faced some very strange requests from celebrities she meets.

Of all the victims that Detective Olivia Benson has encountered on SVU over the years, there have very rarely been recognizable faces. And after 25 years at the helm of the detective series, Mariska Hargitay recently revealed the request “weird” which she frequently receives from celebrities who avidly watch fiction.

This strange request from celebrities

During a interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Mariska Hargitay made a surprising revelation. “All celebrities, you know what they want? To be a corpse! It's so weird”, she confided during the show.

The actress then explained that a “very famous top model” had asked her to make an appearance in the skin of a corpse. “I found out she liked my series”, she said.

I went to the writers, and I asked them if she could appear. She told me she wanted to play a corpse but I said, 'No, no, we have a great role for you.' Then I called her back and said, 'Look, it's okay! You will be able to appear in the series. To which she replied: 'Oh no, I want to play a corpse.'”.

It happens all the time”, she added. “Why don't all these celebrities want lines?”.

The American presenter Seth Meyers then told him that he had asked to play a corpse in New York Special Unit, and that he was offered a real one. He then refused it, explaining: “I don't want any dialogue, I just want to be a dead man in a park.

Fact and fiction intertwine

It has now been 25 years since Mariska Hargitay played Olivia Benson, a heroine who tirelessly confronts sexual crimes. A role that was not always easy for the actress to interpret, as she confided during an interview.

There were times when I didn't know how to protect myself and I think I suffered trauma from telling these stories knowing they were true“, she confided.

These are parts of the job that I didn't know how to assimilate, especially since there were so many stories to tell. This is also why I created the Joyful Heart foundation. I wanted to tell myself that I was doing something for these people.”

Catch season 25 of New York Special Unit from Monday October 7 at 11 p.m. on TF1.
