Where do we come from, why do we even exist, and where are we going? We have been asking ourselves these questions since the beginning of time and they will probably keep us busy for all eternity.
An Indian researcher has now published a study that suggests that our universe has always been influenced by a parallel universe.
This mirror image Universe he calls as a kind of evil twin in which time even runs backwards!
Naman Kumar, a doctoral student at the Indian Institute of Technology, published his study in the journal Gravity and Cosmology. Kumar investigated, among other things, the phenomenon of matter creationThe researcher suspects that particles and their antimatter counterparts appear spontaneously and are in some way quantum mechanically connected.
The parallel universe is shrinking
According to the study, the energy conditions in our universe and the parallel universe would mean that one would expand at an accelerated rate since the Big Bang, while the other would go backwards in time and shrink increasingly. The other universe exists outside of our imagination and is neither visible nor tangible to us.
“This idea does not require any form of dark energy as used in the standard cosmological model or in the modified theories of gravity,” says an evaluation of the highly complex study.
In his research, Naman Kumar also deals with so-called branes – a type of higher-dimensional space. According to the researcher, these branes may be responsible for the accelerated expansion of space-time.
By the way: Branes and parallel universes all come from string theory. This assumes that the basic building blocks of all matter and forces are not point-like particles, but rather strings – tiny, vibrating threads. Depending on the resonance pattern of the vibrations, these create the elementary particles and thus the building blocks of matter.
