After “Braqueurs” and “L’Assaut”, Julien Leclercq returns with a new action series for Netflix which promises to be heavy…
Julien Leclercq, French director, producer and screenwriter, to whom we owe films such as L'Assaut with Vincent Elbaz, the film and series Braqueurs with Sami Bouajila or the last Wages of Fear with Franck Gastambide, continues his partnership with Netflix and will soon be back with a new major action series for the platform entitled GIGNas he announced via his Instagram account.
“After Braqueurs, we are proud with Netflix to announce my next series: GIGN. 13 years after the release of the film The Assault, I have the chance to find this totally extraordinary team. We will enter their privacy. And as close as possible to the action. The series will be produced with the support of GIGN.”
As he specifies in his post, the series is created alongside his writing partner Sylvain Caron and produced with his “lifelong associate”, Julien Madon. He also adds that Tomer Sisley will play the main role while the rest of the casting is still in progress.
“The values of this group are ultimate: respect for life, commitment, esprit de corps and a sense of sacrifice. Long live GIGN! Let's go!”, he finally concluded.
The director will therefore return to the world of GIGN in this new series which promises French action. As a reminder, The Assaultreleased in 2011, recounted the hostage-taking of Air France flight 8969 in December 1994, and featured the assault then carried out by the GIGN.
The Assault is currently streaming on Prime Video. Otherwise, the Robbers series can be found on Netflix. For the 2015 film, we will have to turn to VOD.
