Missing Reno County man found de-ad

A Reno County man that had been missing since last week has been found de*ad.

Gary Foster, who went missing from his home near Arlington Thursday evening, was found de*ad, according to a Facebook post from his granddaughter, Faith Roper.

“We can not thank you enough for your support and help,” the post reads.

A release from a Reno County spokesperson says that Foster was located near his home.

“We would like to take a moment to thank all of the law enforcement agencies, volunteers and organizations who played a crucial rose in the search efforts. Your support, dedication, and tireless work have been invaluable,” the statement reads. 

UPDATE (12/23):

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the search for Gary Foster was shut down around 7 p.m. Sunday night.

Foster was last seen around 5 p.m. Thursday. He is believed to have left on foot from his home in the 9800 block of Peace Road, northwest of Arlington.

The Silver Alert for Foster remains in effect.


UPDATE (12/22):

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Sunday that he has not yet been found.

In the post, the Sheriff’s Office advises western Reno County residents to check “any and all buildings, cars, barns, and places anyone would go to take shelter.” In addition, they are also asking hunters and those who have trail cameras to review any footage on them.

Authorities in south-central Kansas have employed the head of dog teams as they search for an 80-year-old man missing since early Thursday evening. 

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office issued a Silver Alert for Gary Foster, who is believed to have left on foot from his home in the 9800 block of Peace Road, northwest of Arlington. He was last seen at around 5 p.m. and was wearing blue jeans and a plaid button-up shirt.

“Dog teams from the Kansas Search and Rescue Dog Association will be arriving at the scene to continue the search this morning,” the sheriff’s office said in an update on Facebook at around 9:30 am. Friday.

Gary stands about 5-foot-6, weighs 170 pounds and has hazel eyes, grayish-brown hair and a gray beard. The sheriff’s office said he’s diabetic and has Alzheimer’s.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
