Military expert Brigadier General Elias Hanna said that the Lebanese Hezbollah is carrying out more severe and deeper strikes in Israel, noting that it has not reached a response to the assassination of the leader Fouad Shukr, which should target a target equal to the status of the leader whom Israel killed two weeks ago.
Hanna added that Hezbollah is focusing on targeting military bases, especially intelligence and information gathering centers, noting that yesterday's operations, Saturday, targeted the important Safed area and Sharaka, north of Acre, which includes the Golani Brigade and the Egos special unit.
He pointed out that this operation is “slightly more severe and deeper than before, but it does not represent the primary response to the killing of Fouad Shukr, but rather is part of the ongoing process of attrition, unless Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah meant in his speech that the response would be temporary.”
Hezbollah does not want a large-scale war
Hanna said that Saturday's operation “means that Hezbollah has good intelligence – as shown in the Hoopoe videos – and coordinates and that it is able to reach them,” adding, “If Israel is able to respond, it can be overwhelmed with drones to ensure that at least one drone reaches its target.”
“Hezbollah must have a goal that matches Fuad Shukr's values, meaning that its response must be harsh but without going to a comprehensive war that neither it nor Iran wants, while Israel wants it to drag the United States into the war,” he added, “We do not know whether the party will act alone or in cooperation with Iran.”
Regarding the military operations in Lebanon, the military expert said that the occupation army continues to assassinate Hezbollah leaders and targets its centers along the border, which means that it is practicing “proportionality” in its response.
