She has won the most important film awards and earned millions of dollars – but even Kate Winslet (48) is not immune to inappropriate comments about her body.
As she revealed in a recent “Harper's Bazaar” interview, during the filming of her new movie “The Photographer” (released on September 23), a crew member advised her to sit differently so that her “rolls of fat” on her stomach would not be visible.
Winslet: “There is a scene where Lee (her film role, editor's note.) sitting on a bench in a bikini. And one of the crew members came up to me between two scenes and said: 'Maybe you want to sit up straighter.'” Kate Winslet replied: “So that you can't see my belly rolls? No way! That was intentional, right?”

Global success and body shaming
Such comments are unfortunately nothing new for Kate Winslet – as for so many women. Even at school she was bullied because of her appearance and describes herself as a “chubby” girl with big feet and “bad hair”.
At 21, she had her big breakthrough in “Titanic” (1997). In the USA alone, 130 million people watch Winslet, with her angelic face and crazy costumes, fighting for love and survival on the ill-fated ship.

“Proud of not looking perfect”
While her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio (now 49) was celebrated for his acting performance after the premiere, the British press bullied Winslet for her yo-yo weight with “borderline abusive” comments. Too much for the young actress.
Today, the 48-year-old Oscar winner (estimated net worth: $65 million) is at peace with herself. With each passing year, she feels more comfortable, she says: “I'm proud of not looking completely perfect on screen.” Today, no one dares to ask her if she wants to do something about her wrinkles.

“I’m proud of how I look”
Winslet to “Harper's Bazaar”: “We spend so much time getting ready and I'm just never going to do that again. I'm proud of how I look because that's my life on my face and that's what matters. It wouldn't even occur to me to hide it.”
