Jibril and Tariq.. Prisoners, fugitives and martyrs who fulfilled their vows to the Al-Aqsa Flood | Politics

Qalqilya- With a time difference of no more than two weeks, the young man Jibril Jibril ascended as a martyr, joining his comrade Tariq Daoud and the ranks of those who preceded them as martyrs in their city of Qalqilya; after the Israeli occupation targeted him with an air strike that hit him and other resistance fighters inside the Nour Shams camp in the city of Tulkarm in the northern West Bank last night.
Although neither of them was more than 18 years old, the two friends, Jibril and Tariq, were similar in their childhood, captivity, resistance, and martyrdom, and even in their commitment to what they promised their comrades in captivity and struggle when they were both released in the first stage of the prisoner exchange deal in “Al-Aqsa Flood,” after a detention that lasted more than a year, that they would not hesitate to “pay the debt to the prisoners and Gaza and take revenge for it.”
Under the slogan of “revenge trust”, the two friends joined the resistance in Qalqilya immediately after their release, and ignited the flame of struggle that the occupation had worked for months to extinguish, by assassinating resistance fighters who had roused the Qalqilya revolution, like other cities in the West Bank, especially the northern ones close to it, such as the martyr Wael Masha, who was mourned by the Qassam Brigades after he confronted the occupation forces in Balata camp in Nablus, and who had previously been released in the exchange deal.
Revive the city's resistance
The resistance situation in Qalqilya was similar to other cities in the West Bank in terms of individual resistance work, for about a year and a half, starting with the martyrs Alaa Nazzal and his companion Anas Daoud, who formed the “Lions of Glory Groups” affiliated with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which is affiliated with the Fatah National Liberation Movement.
Then the Qalqilya Battalion, affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, issued a statement claiming responsibility for detonating an explosive device in an Israeli military vehicle that had stormed the city. As for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), whose resistance included the martyrs Jibril and Tariq, their actions preceded their words and announcements.
In an attempt to stop the phenomenon of resistance, the occupation was keen to pursue the two martyrs, Tariq and Jibril, and assassinated them about 8 months after their liberation. Tariq was targeted in a direct liquidation operation at the entrance to the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, on August 12, and yesterday, Monday, Jibril was assassinated in the Nour Shams camp in Tulkarm.
Following the pursuit, the occupation did not leave any way to oppress the resistance fighters and pressure them to surrender themselves, but it did so. It stormed the homes of the two martyrs and arrested their families dozens of times, targeting the fathers, mothers and brothers, amidst a state of terror and continuous threats that were unprecedented, but to no avail. The two martyrs insisted on continuing the resistance, and confirmed that they would not return to torment and woe again inside captivity.
Regarding this, Ashraf Jibril, the brother of the martyr Jibril, told Al Jazeera Net that his brother, from the moment he was liberated, dedicated himself to “paying the debt of the resistance and the Al-Aqsa flood, and that just as he was liberated through a deal done by them, he will pay this debt to them.”
He added, “Jibril and his companion Tariq had the same idea and the same goal, and they fulfilled their pledge and revived the Qalqilya resistance.”
This is also confirmed by Khaled Daoud, the brother of the martyr Tareq, who added to Al Jazeera Net that the two martyrs “were loyal to each other and to their debt and the promise they made to take revenge on the occupation.” Despite all the pressures that the occupation is now exerting on Qalqilya, through assassination, pursuit and arrest, “the impact of the resistance has not diminished, and every day a new resistance fighter emerges,” according to Daoud.
The breath of the uprising returns
Amina al-Tawil, an activist in Qalqilya who defends prisoners, says that in light of the occupation’s persistence in its crimes against everything Palestinian, especially prisoners, and the enactment of laws to target them with killing and execution, “we are witnessing an increase in the number of martyred prisoners, whether those currently in captivity or those who have been released.”
Amina believes that the city of Qalqilya, which borders the Palestinian interior occupied in 1948, is teeming with settlers and is witnessing a modest start for resistance elements after years of uprooting, cleansing and destruction of its components. She says, “Therefore, it is no wonder that these young men set out to overcome all the obstacles placed before the resistance, in light of their witnessing the daily crimes in the region, including confiscations, settlements, arrests and other things.”
She added to Al Jazeera Net that the people of Qalqilya, especially the youth, were clearly affected by these resistance fighters, and this was reflected in following their news and the occupation’s pursuit of them, even though they appeared as isolated cases that still cannot be compared to other resistance groups in areas of the West Bank such as Jenin and Tulkarm. This reflects the reason for the occupation’s keenness to suppress and end them before they spread to the ranks of other youth.
Despite their weak capabilities and abilities, these young resistance fighters have left a great impact on their families and the people of the province, and have brought back to the forefront their right to the possibility of liberation, according to the activist. She adds, “Analysts and political experts also agree that it has become certain that this situation cannot end with the martyrdom of the resistance fighters. The uprising that stopped years ago has returned again with new faces and innovative methods.”
Perhaps with the funeral of the martyred Jibril Jibril family today, Tuesday, their fire will cool down despite the sadness and pain of separation, while the family of Tariq Daoud continues to wait for the body of their son, who was detained by the occupation immediately after his assassination.
