Channel 12 Israel said that an investigation it conducted concluded that an officer in the Israeli army's Southern Command intelligence warned the leaders hours before the October 7, 2023 attack, which was carried out by the Palestinian resistance in the name of the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa.
The channel added that the officer warned of “dangerous movements” in the Gaza Strip, and discovered that the electronic tracking system was disabled hours before the attack.
The channel also quoted a military source as saying that the Israeli army's failure on October 7 began when it did not have a suitable plan to respond to the military plans of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
The Israeli army has repeatedly admitted its failure to defend Israelis during the attack, and said it would present the results of all investigations into the mistakes made in the coming months.
A few days ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with the American magazine “Time”, announced his apology for the October 7 attack.
He said his fundamental mistake was to acquiesce to the security cabinet's reluctance to launch an all-out war, noting that the attack showed that those who said Hamas was deterred were wrong.
Netanyahu had traded accusations with military leaders and the security establishment over the content of security risk assessments before the October 7 attack.
The Palestinian resistance said that it launched Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa in response to the occupation's attacks on the Palestinian people, the repeated violations of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the continued siege on Gaza for nearly two decades.
