The Israeli army has asked its soldiers and officers in Georgia and Azerbaijan to leave immediately and not to travel to the two countries for fear of any retaliatory action by Iran.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that the army is conducting an ongoing assessment of the security situation and updating the list of countries to which Israelis are prohibited from traveling in light of the current security situation.
The Israeli decision comes as part of the security measures and precautions that Israel is taking in anticipation of an Iranian attack in response to the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, and in response by Hezbollah to the assassination of the party’s leader, Fouad Shukr, in Beirut.
Earlier, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted a senior diplomat as saying that Israel has concerns about the possibility of Iran and Hezbollah targeting Israelis abroad or diplomats and embassies in Tel Aviv.
“Our situation is very serious regarding the envoys abroad, and many of them feel threatened,” the newspaper quoted the source as saying.
The Israeli website “Walla” reported – quoting sources it described as informed – that Iran may attack Israel. In the coming few days, even before the expected summit to discuss the exchange deal with Hamas next Thursday.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant told his American counterpart Lloyd Austin that Iranian preparations indicate planning for a major attack on Israel.
In turn, the Axios news website quoted two informed sources as saying that the updated assessment of Israeli intelligence services is that Iran Ready to attack Israel directly, and this is likely to happen within days.
According to the two sources, Israeli intelligence agencies expect Hezbollah to attack first, followed by Iran, as well as The attacks are likely to be larger than the “True Promise” attack carried out by Tehran last April.
