Harrison Ford has spoken out about the mysterious scene that has had fans wondering for years, but his answer isn’t exactly what fans were hoping for…
Spoiler alert! The following article reveals key plot elements from “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (2019).
The Star Wars franchise is one of the most complex productions in the audiovisual and literary world. With nine films, series, spin-offs, animations and other new features to come in the “Lucasverse”, its world is vast and dense, and the questions are numerous.
In other words, even the most dedicated fans may not know every detail about George Lucas’s popular franchise – and that’s not even the case with Harrison Ford himself!
What is a Force ghost?
In a 2020 interview with USA Today, the actor admitted that he had “not the slightest idea” on a specific detail about his character that still puzzles fans to this day: in the ninth installment of the blockbuster sci-fi film series, The Rise of Skywalker, his iconic character, Han Solo, comes back to life for a conversation with his son, Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver.

While the moment excited audiences, it also spawned a lot of questions, with fans divided over whether the scene took place in Kylo Ren’s imagination or if Han had returned as a “Force ghost.”
“A Force ghost? I don’t know what a Force ghost is. I don’t have the slightest f**king idea what a Force ghost is. And I don’t care.”, said Harrison Ford.
In Star Wars mythology, a Force ghost is when a character returns in ghostly form through the power of the Force.
Ford’s comments should come as no surprise to Star Wars fans, as the actor has made no secret of the fact that he doesn’t identify with his character in the saga and even advocated for him to be killed off in the original trilogy.
“When (the director JJ Abrams) asked me to do it, I said, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m dead!’“, he revealed. But he still ended up letting himself be convinced: “He said to me, ‘Pretty much dead. You can do it.’ He hadn’t written anything at the time. But he said, ‘This is going to be great.’ So I said okay. If JJ asked you to do something, you’d probably do it too. He’s a very persuasive guy.”
Although he has since ended his participation in the franchise once and for all, you never know when another request might come along and perhaps convince him again? There is room for doubt.
