Hezbollah denies taking organizational measures within its leadership news
Lebanese Hezbollah denied that it had taken organizational measures within its leadership following the killing of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, and other leaders in Israeli raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The party said in a brief statement published by its media office late Sunday evening: The news that has been circulated in this regard cannot be relied upon unless an official statement is issued.
After the confirmation of Nasrallah's death, Israeli and Western reports spoke about the appointment of prominent leader Hashem Safi al-Din as his successor in the leadership of the party.
Israeli media said that Safi al-Din took over the reins after the assassination of several political and field leaders, and began reorganizing the party's ranks.
Israel says that the massive air attack it began a few days ago on Lebanon aims to strike Hezbollah's military capabilities and push it away from the border, with the aim of allowing the return of settlement residents in the north.
