Want to chat with locals on vacation without speaking their language? The ChatGPT program will soon make this possible using artificial intelligence (AI).
The developers of the famous tool (100 million users) showed how well this works in a live presentation on Monday. Without any noticeable pauses, ChatGPT translated effortlessly back and forth between Italian and English – and with its fast voice output acted as a perfect interpreter.

Competition from ex-Apple employees flopped
What's striking is that on their website, the developers emphasize that all videos demonstrating the new functions were recorded in real time. This means that even in real-life use, users should not have to wait for long loading times.
The note is also important because previous Apple-employees recently introduced a new device with similar promises. However, the Cyber brooch by Humane completely: One of the world's biggest YouTubers spoke of the worst product he had ever tested. Expectations for the device were high after the first presentations – but under real conditions, users have to put up with endless loading times.
Humane’s AI pin flopped after its recent market launch
► The new update for ChatGPT will be available to all users in the coming weeks – however, individual functions are reserved for customers with a paid subscription (18.50 euros per month).
ChatGPT now talks like a human
The update also makes visions from science fiction films a reality: ChatGPT's voice assistant can now have real conversations with users and recognize their emotions. The program speaks with such a human voice that it almost seems uncanny. ChatGPT can even vary the emphasis – and thus leaves rival products like Amazon's Alexa or Apple's Siri miles behind.
And: In the future, the program will also be able to process information that is shown to it using a smartphone camera. During the live presentation, the developers demonstrated how ChatGPT helped solve a math problem that one of them wrote on a piece of paper.
After the presentation, company boss Sam Altman (39) enthused that it was the best way to operate a computer that he had ever experienced. “It feels like the AI from movies. And I'm still a little surprised that it's real.”
