Find out the locations of the confrontations between the resistance and the occupation army in the Gaza Strip | News
Clashes between the resistance and the occupation forces are spreading throughout the Gaza Strip, but the fighting is concentrated heavily in the Tel al-Hawa and al-Rimal neighborhoods southwest of Gaza City and in the city of Rafah to the south.
Since the beginning of the war, Israeli forces have penetrated Tel al-Hawa more than once from the Netzarim axis, but they were met with fierce resistance. Over time, the occupation army took Tel al-Hawa as a location for its forces to be stationed in both the university college and the Barcelona Towers area.
According to an information report for Al Jazeera prepared by Ismail Abu Omar, this concentration was reflected in the resistance’s tactics in a way that appeared clearly in its recent operations, as it relied on complex ambushes that combined detonating explosive devices and direct engagement with machine guns.
One of the most prominent resistance operations was the Al-Baraa ambush carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – on July 26, around the Al-Baraa bin Azib Mosque. Al-Qassam also recently announced the detonation of two anti-personnel bombs in two Israeli military vehicles and the clash with the force's soldiers.
In the city of Rafah – the southern gateway to the Gaza Strip, where Israeli forces began a military operation on May 6 despite international warnings – Israeli army forces began their military operation by taking control of the Rafah crossing, which is only a few kilometers away from the Israeli military site of Kerem Shalom.
Starting from the crossing, the army expanded its military operation into the heart of Rafah. Heading west along the Philadelphi axis, resistance operations were concentrated in the border axis with Egypt, central Rafah, the Yebna and Shaboura camps, the Tel al-Sultan and al-Saudi neighborhoods west of the city, the Zalata area, the Salam and al-Shawka neighborhoods, and George Street east of the city.
In addition to the ambush tactic, the resistance operations in Rafah were characterised by reliance on booby-trapped tunnels and the firing of anti-vehicle guided missiles.
