Enie van de Meiklokjes turns 50 today

Enie van de Meiklokjes was born as Doreen Grochowski on August 1, 1974 in Potsdam. She spent her entire childhood and school years there. Even as a child she loved lily of the valley and Holland was her favorite country, which is why she chose her unusual stage name.

After graduating from high school, she trained as a display designer. But then she ended up working in television: in 1996, she got her first job as a presenter on the music channel VIVA. From 1999 to 2001, she presented “Bravo TV” on RTLZWEI.

Since 2001 she has worked as a freelance presenter for various TV shows. She has also occasionally worked as a voice actress, actress and book author. Her first book, “Enies Aquariengeschichten”, was published in 2011.

Since 2012, Enie van de Meiklokjes has represented SIXX Baking show “Sweet & Easy – Enie bakes” in front of the camera. In 2017 she began hosting the Sat.1 show “The Great Baking” and to host their annual special edition “The Great Celebrity Bake Off”. She can also be seen regularly in the quiz show “Master of Everyday Life”.

She has been married to Danish musician Tobias Staerbo since 2014. Their two twin daughters were born in 2017. She keeps her private life largely out of the public eye.
