Antivirus programs are supposed to protect our computers. But US authorities believe that Kaspersky's Russian antivirus software has the potential to do just the opposite – and could become a gateway for Russian cyberattacks.
Now the USA has banned the program. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has also warned about the software.
The fact is: Putin repeatedly allows Russian hackers to attack German politicians and companies; the danger of cyber attacks is real.
Neither Russian nor Chinese companies automatically become instruments of espionage. But: “In the current situation, everyone should think carefully about whether they use technologies and products from Russia,” a Bitkom spokesperson told BILD.
