Crowdstrike causes IT disruption: 1,400 flights cancelled worldwide! | News

“We deeply regret the impact we have caused to customers, travelers and everyone affected,” George Kurtz, CEO of CrowdStrike, said in an NBC segment on Friday.

He also reiterated that it was not a cyberattack: “It was not a cyberattack, it was related to this content update,” Kurtz said. “An update was sent to the system, and that update contained a software bug and caused a problem with the Microsoft operating system.”

When asked how a single content update could cause such widespread outages and turn entire industries upside down, Kurtz acknowledged that the company needed to “look back and see what happened.”

Although a solution to the problem has already been identified and deployed, the CEO could not provide a timeline for when all systems would be fully operational again.
