CDU criticizes blockade: dispute over Airbus for Serengeti Park escalates | Regional
Hanover – This purchase should be a highlight for the Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen. But the joy about the successful acquisition of the legendary Airbus A310 “Kurt Schumacher”, which was once a government and relief aircraft, on September 4th, 2021 has long since disappeared.
The Airbus fuselage has been hanging at Hanover Airport for three years (Lower Saxony) firmly. The engines, wings and tailplane were brought to the park and have been collecting dust ever since. The planned conversion of the jet into a safari restaurant is on hold.
Reason: The Hanover region, which is responsible for approving transport, consistently rejects all transport proposals. There are fears that trees will be damaged. But all reports show the opposite.
Major attraction for amusement park should be prevented
Now the Lower Saxony CDU has taken on the provincial posse. Uwe Schünemann, long-time Interior Minister and still a member of the CDU state parliamentary group, recently met with park boss Fabrizio Sepe at Langenhagen Airport and inspected it Airbus.
“If you study the documents so far, you can only shake your head. Here, absurd reasons are being used to try to prevent another major attraction for one of Germany’s most important theme parks,” said Schünemann.
The CDU politician refers to the 350 ton heavy Submarinewhich can be reached without any problems via the Neckar, motorway and country road to the museum in Sinsheim Baden-Württemberg was transported: “So it's easy elsewhere. We have to be careful not to bully healthy companies that want to invest in times of an ever weaker economy.”
27 jobs should be created
The Serengeti Park employs 720 people. 750,000 visitors come to Hodenhagen every year. The Airbus should create 27 new jobs.
Schünemann suggests that Sepe introduce the issue to the state parliament via a petition, and the CDU signals his support in order to do so Blockade posture to make it clear to the Hanover region.
Schünemann: “I am urgently calling for the green light to transport the legendary Airbus to the Serengeti Park.” The CDU politician refers to a new wind farm that is being built in Wedemark. Around one hectare of forest is cleared per system – and there are 36 systems. “Not a single tree has to be cut down to transport the hull to Serengeti Park. The so-called reverse rigging method (in which branches are pushed up to protect the trees, ed.) guarantees this,” explains Schünemann.
