No pet is as popular in Germany as the cat!
Around 16 million meowing four-legged friends live in German households. It's clear that these furry friends get all the attention they can get. They sleep in bed with you, sit on your lap during video calls, receive presents, and cuddle on the couch.
AND: they are social media stars. More than one in ten cats in Germany has their own account.
This is shown by a recent survey conducted by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the online printing company Vistaprint with over 2,000 respondents.
Since the four-legged friends cannot manage their profiles themselves, their owners have to step in. Surprisingly, men (18 percent) do this much more often than women (11 percent). On average, the owners of the so-called catfluencers are between 35 and 44 years old.
Cats have millions of fans on Instagram
★ Maine Coon cat Nala lives in Lower Saxony and loves to be photographed lying down in a relaxed position. The proud lady has almost 40,000 subscribers.
★ Gnocchi has almost 22,000 followers. The German British Shorthair cat is regularly featured as a meme in all situations.
★ The most successful social mediaMale cat is Nala from Los Angeles. A proud 4.5 million subscribers want to watch daily Instagram see the grey tabby four-legged friend wearing glasses, wearing costumes or advertising cat food.
★ Tomcat Coby is a master of disguise. His 1.8 million fans mainly see him in various outfits, but also while sleeping and eating.
★ Suki is much more adventurous. She travels the world with her master and mistress and shares her impressions with 1.7 million subscribers.
★ Anyone who likes sugary Kitties can't do much with it, you might become a fan of Angry Kitzia. It is considered the successor to “Grumpy Cat“ (died 2019), the ultimate cat internet star. Trademark: grumpy look.
The good news: Angry Kitzia is at least as bad-tempered.
