That was just a few days ago iPhone 16 appeared. Some of the functions such as the new photo button are only available on the new devices – but the new operating system iOS 18 was released almost at the same time. And that brings a lot of features without having to get a new one iPhone must buy.

We have already presented the highlights. Among other things, you can now design the home screen much more freely than before, the photos app has been given a completely new coat of paint and there is the new passwords app.

But in iOS 18 there are changes and functions hidden Apple hardly or not spoken at all, but which you should know.

▶︎ Five-second self-timer. Anyone who likes to take photos with a self-resolver will know this: a three-second timer is too short, ten seconds too long. Now you can also select five seconds.

▶︎ Music no longer stops while taking photos or filming. Until now, you couldn't record a video and listen to music through headphones at the same time. That works now.

▶︎ Off switch directly in the control center. Previously, you had to press the lock button and one of the volume buttons to turn off the iPhone. Now there is an icon for it in the top right corner of the Control Center.

▶︎ Set charging limit. If you want to protect your battery, you can now specify the maximum charge for the iPhone 15 and 16 iPhones.

▶︎ Hide content from websites. In Safari you can now make “distracting objects” disappear from websites if, for example, an advertisement is in the way.

▶︎ Answer Siri with a nod. When Siri asks a question (“Do you want to start a workout?”) and you're wearing AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods 4, you can respond by nodding or shaking your head instead of speaking to Siri.

▶︎ Anti-seasick mode. There is now the option “Vehicle movement information” in the operating aids. Moving dots are displayed on the edges of the screen to prevent nausea when you look at your cell phone in a vehicle.

▶︎ Improved flashlight. You can now adjust not only the brightness, but also the width of the light cone.

▶︎ Reminders with date now also appear as an event in the calendar.

▶︎ Customizable photo app. If you don't warm up to the new photos app, you can scroll to the bottom and set which elements should be displayed and which not.

▶︎ Share WiFi access via QR code. In the new passwords app, a QR code can be displayed with which you can quickly share WiFi access.

▶︎ Notes can now do math. Anyone who writes an equation in the notes app will immediately see the solution.
